For four months their tents and banners outside St Paul's Cathedral in London were a physical reminder of the many who blamed banks and corporate greed for the financial crisis.

The Occupy London camp was just one of many around the world which sprang up in protest against capitalism. But 12 months after bailiffs and the police evicted the activists, did they have any lasting impact?

Newsnight's Liz Mackean went to meet two former residents of the camp who are trying to keep the spirit of the protest alive.

An Iraqi asylum seeker set himself on fire at a refugee centre in Utrecht on Monday, news agency ANP said.

The man was told last week his claim for refugee status had been rejected and he must return to Iraq.

He was taken to hospital but no details about his condition were given by news agency ANP.

Iraq refuses to accept returning refugees who have been forced to leave the Netherlands. Nevertheless, junior justice minister Fred Teeven is determined to press ahead with deportations, ANP said.

Occupy Wall Street koopt schulden van de 99% op en scheldt ze kwijt

Met een nieuwe actie, "Rolling Jubilee", plant Occupy Wall Street (OWS) schulden op te kopen van de 99% en er vervolgens de spons over te vegen. Tijdens een testcase werd zo al voor veertienduizend dollar schulden kwijtgescholden. Pittig detail, deze schulden werden opgekocht voor amper vijfhonderd dollar.
